Newly developed information systems must be "good". In the course "quality of information systems" we look at what is means "to be good". We look at different quality characteristics, and at different methods to classify quality and to make it explicit. Moreover, we consider some techniques to improve quality, and to assess and test quality. We consider both the software product itself, and the process along which it was developed.

Leerdoelen

The goals of the course "quality of information systems" are that students: (1) can classify and recognize different quality characteristics of software; (2) have an overview of, and have insight in different quality contributing factors, both from process and from product perspectives; (3) can reason and argue about the impact of different quality attributes on the design of information systems; (4) can propose a strategy, or combination of strategies, to asses and test whether an information system complies with defined quality requirements; (5) are able to read, classify, and judge the literature on quality of information systems.
