Where is the ‘top’?

My current research focus is to find the mechanism of the top-down control in the human brain by developing methods for functional connectivity. I am mainly interested in finding the ‘top’ and how it is represented in the form of neuronal oscillations in the brain by means of cross-frequency coupling and cortical traveling waves.
