Welcome to Nijmegen

We invite you to study in the oldest town of the Netherlands. Nijmegen also known as Nimègue, Nimwegen or Nimega was founded by the Romans on the banks of the river Waal, the main branch of the river Rhine. Later it became one of the residents of Charlemagne. This background is still visible today, making Nijmegen a very attractive city. With its slightly higher altitude, it is known for its beautiful views over the surrounding river landscape.

In addition to academic activities, you will find lots of opportunities like museums, cinemas, shops, restaurants and bars, and not to mention the green and hilly countryside with plenty of water and space for cycling, inline skating and of course walking. Each year on the third Tuesday in July some ten-thousands walkers from all over the world visit Nijmegen for a 4-day walk-a-thon, one of the world's largest walking events.

Studying on a University in general, and studying abroad in particular, needs good preparation. On this site you will find information on Studying in Nijmegen in gereral and additional information for exchange students, regular students , Flemish and German students. The information on this site will however not be complete. So, if your are interested, please feel free to contact us. We are pleased to help you.

What makes the Netherlands that special?
