         Calculus:

  • Single variable calculus

    Probability and statistics:
    • Combinatorics (basic knowledge as taught in Discrete Wiskunde is assumed)
    • Distributions, random variables
    • Bayes' formula
    • Expectation, variance
    • Applications

    Examination:

    Your mark for this course is computed as max{exam, 0.5*exam+0.5*homework grade}, but:

  • Homework exercises: Weekly exercises are compulsory. This means that by submitting the homeworks you qualify for the exam (you must hand in at least 5 of 8!)Your answers will be marked each week, and averaged at the end of the course; this average will make up one half of your final mark. You must submit your homework every week individually (not in pairs); it has to be handed in before Monday 12:00 am (for the previous week) and will be discussed on the next exercise session on Thursday.

  • The final exam (or the average of 2 partial exams): The written exam (July 12, 15:30 - 17:30, Hg. 00.304) or the average of 2 partial exams will make up the second half of your final mark, with the restriction that this written exam must have mark 5 or higher. If you go for partial exams, both have to be at least 5.
