At the other table our teammates sat EW and missed the game in hearts. They were allowed to play in three heart and made it with two overtricks.

Luckily our side did much better on this deal. I decided that my hand was strong enough to open one spade and on the second round of bidding I reevaluated my hand and decided that those eleven points were good enough to bid game! (Meant to make or as a good save)

For all those pointcounters this is probably one of the worst bids they have ever seen, but as the deal shows, four spades is cold with only 17 points in the combined hands and they even contain three wortless jacks!
