MIFARE Classic Hack
We have successfully hacked the MIFARE Classic. This is the most widely-used contacless smartcard, used extensively in access control for buildings, ticketing, and payment systems for public transport.
The movie below shows a demonstration of the attack on the access control system for our university building. Since making this movie, we have significantly improved the attack. We can now find all keys used in one communication (the university uses the same key always, but for instance the OV-Chipkaart uses at least 15 different keys and they are different for every card) in only a few seconds.
