The usability of identity-based encryption

Although email encryption has been around for decades, it is still not widely used. In this project, you address one of the critical issues that stand in the way of broad adoption: the poor usability of email encryption tools. You dive into the user experience issues inherent to existing solutions (e.g., PGP and S/MIME) and compare these solutions to an alternative developed at Radboud University. As part of this project, you will review the scientific literature on usable encryption and secure email solutions and conduct a usability study or expert evaluation to compare our tool to alternatives with respect to ease of use, the potential for errors, effectiveness and efficiency.
