The director together with the Assistant Director run the ICIS on a daily basis and carry out its policies. The director is the prime responsible for the joint research programme. This includes coördinating the research efforts into one joint ICIS research programme, stimulating researchers into joint activities and the quality of control of research.

All heads of the research groups together with de Director of ICIS and the Director of the Education Institute Computing and Information Sciences, form the Management Advice Committee. All proposed decisions on or adjustments in research policy are put to this Committee for advice. Decisions on structural increase or decrease of staff are the responsibility of the faculty board.
